The Google Play Store team has informed developers that it will soon stop processing payments globally meant for holders of Russian bank accounts. This limitation will take effect in two weeks on December 26, 2024.

The Digital Markets Act, or DSA, has forced Google to review its mobile store policy. The company said that starting from July 19, developers will be free to use third-party payment systems and pay a lower commission on Google Play. But only in non-gaming applications and for users from the European Economic Area.

On May 11, Google held a conference for developers I/O 2022, at which it presented, among other things, new features for its mobile store.

The ban began to take effect yesterday, May 5. In an official blog, Google stated that, if desired, developers providing “important services” can make their applications completely free.

In the UK, they plan to strengthen control over the App Store, Google Play and other mobile stores. The government stated that they do not protect user data well enough, so officials decided to draw up special regulations for stores.
