Google is ready to sign a settlement agreement with the attorneys general of 37 US states who accused the corporation of abusing power in the Android mobile store market. The legal conflict between them lasts more than two years.

There is no talk of a final settlement of the claim yet: the parties have agreed only in advance. It is not known on what conditions. Earlier, the states demanded that Google pay compensation to 21 million Google Play users.

It is assumed that the parties will announce the final decision at the hearing on October 12.

The states sued Google in the spring of 2021. In the lawsuit, they stated that the corporation forces developers to distribute Android apps only through Google Play. In particular, she allegedly paid Samsung Electronics not to open a competing store. Also, the states are dissatisfied with the Google Play commission of up to 30% and consider it overstated.
