Yesterday it was reported that Apple may reject the game if it has ads that mention other platforms. We asked representatives of myTarget, WakeApp, AppInTop, Unilead and Clickky if this is really the case.

Apple и возможность отклонения приложения в связи с рекламой, упоминающей не “яблочные” платформы

The other day the British edition PocketGamer.biz released the materialApple prohibits iOS games that contain ads mentioning other platforms.” According to him, Apple refused to approve the application of an unnamed team until the developers remove all mentions of Google Play and Windows Phone from advertising (we wrote about it here yesterday).

Based on one of the illustrations accompanying the publication, it can be assumed that it was about Gameloft, which Apple apparently demanded at the last moment to change the video for Dungeon Hunter 5.

And indeed, the video for the game now in the App Store, or rather its last seconds, hint that he was going in a hurry. There is a blank image in it as the last two seconds. For example, we also recommend watching the video that is currently hanging on Google Play. The last seconds are different in it (although there is also no mention of any platforms).

Despite the fact that, most likely, Apple’s specific refusal concerned a specific video, to which, like any video (and any other content) published on the application page, the developers are directly related, our British colleagues allowed themselves to extrapolate the situation, assuming that Apple would cut out those applications from the App Store, in which he will notice ads mentioning other platforms.

Representatives of the largest Russian advertising networks, whom we asked about whether they had encountered the fact that Apple prohibits applications where advertising is shown, mentioning other platforms, said in an interview with App2Top.ru that such cases were not recorded.

Dmitry Zevelev, myTarget Project Manager and Advertising Technology Director Mail.Ru Group, noted that at the moment his company has not encountered such cases.

We at WakeApp have not encountered such a problem yet, but it really exists. In fact, any applications with the mention of Android can be banned, this is spelled out in the Apple rules, which are guided by the moderators of the App Store. Maybe Apple decided to work more closely on the image of applications in the App Store, removing references to competitors,” said Nikita Guk, PR director of WakeApp Engine.

AppInTop Group Customer Service Manager Egor Karpov in a conversation with App2Top.ru he stated that up to now they have not had such incidents.

We have never encountered this, because we do not understand why to show ads on Apple devices leading to Google Play,” said Dmitry Semenov, CEO of Unilead.

Representatives of Clickky also noted that they had not encountered such a practice.

Most of the experts we interviewed also noted that in the case of a real introduction of such a practice by Apple, neither the grid nor the developers should have any problems.

“We don‘t see any particular difficulties with displaying unique banners for each platform,” Nikita Guk said.

From the very beginning, we made our own banners for each platform,” he noted Dmitry Semenov.
