Google temporarily solved the problem that caused the soundtrack to stop working in many HTML5 games in the Chrome browser. The company responded to the problem reports about a week later.
Google has not abandoned the idea of turning off the sound in Chrome, but promised to postpone its implementation until October of this year.
During this time, the creators of browser games and HTML applications should refine their products so that they can fully work after the return of the update.
Recall that after updating Chrome to version 66, a number of creators of browser games began to complain about the loss of sound when launching their titles in the Google program.
According to the developers of Chrome, the 66 update was supposed to turn off the sound in videos that automatically start when the page loads. So the company hoped to cope with annoying advertising.
But as a result, the update disabled audio in all objects created in HTML5. Not only web games were affected, but also various browser-based media applications.
