The update for Google’s Chrome browser caused unforeseen difficulties for developers and gamers. After the update in Chrome, the sound stopped working in some browser games created on HTML5.

The update for Chrome by default disables the sound in videos that automatically start when the page loads. According to the creators, this was supposed to save browser users from annoying audio ads, but something went wrong.

The problems with sound in their projects after the Chrome update were reported in their Twitter feeds by the creator of the VVVVV and Super Hexagon puzzles, Terry Cavanagh, and the author of the Stephen’s Sausage Roll puzzle, Stephen Lavelle.

The former technical director of the Kickstarter platform, Andy Baio, turned to the official account of the Chrome development team on Twitter with a request to sort out the situation.

In addition, several dozen comments from dissatisfied browser users appeared on the Google developers’ website under the post announcing the automatic mute in Chrome.

Google representatives have not yet responded to the messages and the problem.
