The authors of World of Tanks announced the launch of a new structure. It’s called Wargaming Nexus. In her area of priorities — assistance in the development of mobile games on Unreal Engine 4.
It is not yet clear from the press release exactly what the new division will do. It is claimed that Nexus:
- will be engaged in the implementation of strategic initiatives of Wargaming for the mobile games market;
- will focus on developing products with high potential and original mechanics (in-house and in partnership with external studios);
The company also notes that Wargaming Nexus was launched back in 2018. The division became one of the results of cooperation between Wargaming and Epic Games.
Since then, the Belarusian company:
- started positioning game development on Unreal Engine 4 as a priority;
- together with studios from Central and Eastern Europe, she implemented six prototypes based on the engine.
Now Wargaming Nexus invites studios engaged in the development and prototyping of games on Unreal Engine 4 to cooperate.
It is stated that details about the new structure will be announced at the White Nights business conference, which will be held in St. Petersburg this week, June 19-20.
Heads a new division Nikolay Nebyshinets, who has been working in Wargaming since 2006. Previously, he was also the company’s vice president for PR and marketing, and was responsible for publishing in the CIS.
By the way, the launch of Nexus is far from the first “go” Wargaming in the mobile edition and work with external teams. Earlier, the company announced the launch of a publishing house Wargaming Mobile, in 2015, WG Cells (now closed) was also launched, which was also supposed to develop and publish mobile games, at the same time the WG Labs initiative appeared — a laboratory for curating external projects.
