The authors of World of Tanks have officially announced their publishing ambitions. Yesterday, the company announced the introduction of WG Labs, a laboratory for supervising external projects.
According to the information on the website, the latter is ready to provide a number of services traditional for the publishing house, including:
- Financing of development at the expense of royalties from future income.
- Analytics and assistance in choosing game mechanics, working out a monetization strategy and entering the market.
- Marketing, promotion, PR.
- Organization of operational, financial, and production facilities for the distribution of the product worldwide.
In order for the project to interest Wargaming.net , it should be previously unpublished and be in the final stages of development. The platform can be any, including mobile.
Considering the recent announcement of the relaunch of Master of Orion, which publishes Wargaming.net , and the Argentine NGD Studios is developing, such an initiative could well be expected. Moreover, this is quite in the spirit of the present time, when an independent development studio is being retrained into a publisher. For example, only this year such domestic teams as ZeptoLab and Nekki joined the league of publishers.
