Neither viewers of streaming services nor Steam players are interested in the new Gears 5. This is very unusual for AAA from a major publisher, especially from the giant Microsoft.
The GitHyp service spoke about the declining interest in the Gears of War franchise even at the time of the release of the fourth game. She, contrary to expectations, did not take off on the 1st place in Twitch — she got to the 4th. The peak of its simultaneous viewers was 50 thousand people.
But Gears 5, released the day before, can only dream of such indicators. On the release day, she was ranked 14th on Twitch. And only 17 thousand simultaneous viewers watched it at its peak — 66% less than in the case of Gears of War 4.
Even on Mixer, Microsoft’s streaming platform, the new game has already dropped out of the top 5 most popular. Its peak figure there does not exceed several thousand viewers. According to GitHyp, the situation could have changed if the popular Ninja streamer had paid attention to the game. But he is busy playing World of Warcraft Classic.
The lack of interest in the game among the audience is not everything. Gears 5 is the first game in the series available to Steam players, but there is even less excitement in the store. It reached a maximum of 33 places in the rating of games on peak online. Now, with a peak of 10 thousand simultaneous users, it is already on the 44th. In addition, she has only 60% positive reviews on Steam (significant technical problems of the game affected).
Outside of Microsoft’s own platform, Gears 5 is obviously not very popular. As GitHyp notes, it is simply unprofitable for players to take a novelty on Steam for $ 60.
