Forbes business magazine has included Valve CEO Gabe Newell in the top hundred richest Americans. Newell’s fortune is estimated at $5.5 billion.
Gabe Newell took 97th place in the list of the 400 wealthiest citizens of the United States and was in 43rd place among representatives of technology business.
The publication noted that Newell has been heading Valve since its founding in 1998.
Since Valve is not a public company and does not disclose its finances, Forbes assumes that Newell owns half of the company.
Steam services are used by more than 125 million people worldwide. In addition, Valve receives a commission from game developers who place their games in the store.
