The head of Valve, Gabe Newell, said that the company is preparing to present Source 2 to third-party developers, but first of all, development is carried out for its own needs.
“Source 2 is incredibly useful for Valve projects, it gives us everything we expect from the engine and develops in the right direction. This is a kind of industrial-level solution. But Unity is much better suited for other developers. However, they can use Source 2 if they want,” Newell said.
He added that, first of all, Source 2 remains a tool for implementing its own projects closely related to the Steam service.
