The founder of Steam entered the Top 400 richest Americans according to Forbes. His fortune was estimated at $4.1 billion.
This amount is more than the current US President Donald Trump, whose savings amounted to $ 3.7 billion, and director Steven Spielberg, who also earned $ 3.7 billion.
Gabe Newell was in the Top 400 the only American who made a fortune on video games.
The top five richest Americans included:
- Bill Gates – Microsoft – $81 billion;
- Jeff Bezos – Amazon – $67 billion;
- Warren Buffett – Berkshire Hathaway – $65.5;
- Mark Zuckerberg – Facebook – $55.5;
- Larry Allison – Oracle – $49.3.
For comparison, the richest businessman in Russia according to Forbes is Leonid Mikhelson, chairman of the board of the gas company NOVATEK. At the end of last year, his fortune was estimated at $14.4 billion.
Gabe Newell is the co–founder of Valve, the developer of the most popular digital distribution PC gaming platform – Steam. The total sales of games on this site for 2016, according to estimated forecasts, amounted to about $ 3.5 billion.
