The Steam administration continues to struggle with low-quality content. The new rules of the platform restrict the access of games to the achievement system and registration in the game catalog until it reaches a certain level of trust of players. To do this, the title needs downloads and gaming sessions of real Steam users.

Until the game proves its viability, it will not participate in the counting of titles in the Steam catalog and player libraries, and the achievements available in it will not be displayed in the platform system. The company does not specify exactly how many downloads and sessions the title needs.

According to Valve, the abundance of fake games “confuses Steam’s algorithms and misleads users.” Fake games are understood as low-quality, unfinished and other projects that pass the control of the Steam Direct publishing program, but are not full-fledged video games.

Valve has moved to a more active content moderation policy since the beginning of this month, removing from the catalog a number of titles created, according to the administration, solely for the sake of provocation and trolling. Among other things, games such as Asset Flip Simulator and AIDS Simulator, as well as the scandalous Active Shooter school shooting simulator, have disappeared from Steam.

At the same time, Valve has publicly stated that it will not restrict Steam games for political, racial and other reasons, even if their content seems offensive to someone.
