Google Play is not afraid of competition with other distributors. And he does not plan to change the standard distribution of “70% to developers, 30% to the store”.
The company is confident that they take quite a fair share for the services that they provide to the creators of games. This was stated by Google CEO Sundar Pichai, as reported by Pocket Gamer.
Thousands of developers rely on Google Play. And we invest a lot of money in our infrastructure, guaranteeing the safety of the site and high interest (in the products presented on it). I consider the price set to be fair. I think we will continue to follow the same path — of course, adapting to the realities of the market.

Pichai considers a 30% share to be an “industry standard”. The same bar was set by both the App Store and Steam (although the latter recently changed the distribution of shares for large publishers).
Nevertheless, the newly created Epic Games Store decided to lower this standard. He takes 12% of the sales of titles.
By the way, its creator Epic Games has released a Fortnite battle royale on Android bypassing Google Play. The studio found unacceptable the terms of the store from Google, which takes 30% for itself and at the same time sells search results. Therefore, Google did not receive a cent of the $100 million spent by players in the Android version of Fortnite (according to Sensor Tower).
