Beijing-based mobile game developer ZPlay has bought a 70% stake in Canadian indie publisher Noodlecake Studios for $4.9 million.

Noodlecake CEO Jordan Schidlowsky said that this transaction will not affect the device of the company, which will continue to operate in the Canadian city of Saskatoon.

According to Shidlovsky, the cooperation of Noodlecake and ZPlay became what both companies were striving for.

The Chinese side wanted to enlist the support of a strong Western partner, and the Canadians needed a guide to enter the Asian mobile market.

Noodlecake Studios has over 120 indie titles in its publishing portfolio, including both its own developments, such as the Super Stickman Golf series, and third-party projects, including the platformer Alto’s Adventure.
