According to rumors, Microsoft is ready to radically deal with the lack of exclusives for Xbox. To do this, the IT giant is eyeing the purchase of Electronic Arts and other gaming companies.

A possible deal between the corporations was reported by Polygon, citing sources close to Microsoft. In addition to EA, Valve and the studio PUBG Corp. appear on the list of bidders for the purchase.

These speculations are related to a recent interview with Microsoft Vice President Phil Spencer to Venture Beat in mid-January. Spencer said that the company is interested in investing more in the development of Xbox exclusives.

Polygon interviewed several game market analysts. Experts from IHS Markit, SuperData Research and DFC Intelligence agree that Microsoft may start buying gaming companies in the near future.

The corporation can afford it. According to YourStory, Microsoft’s cash reserve last year amounted to at least $130 billion. For comparison, the market value of Electronic Arts is estimated at $ 35 billion.

Microsoft’s actions since the beginning of this year indicate a willingness to develop the gaming direction. The company appointed a new curator of Microsoft gaming projects on PC and consoles, and also included all future Xbox exclusives in the monthly subscription Xbox Game Pass.
