Matt Booty became vice president of Microsoft Studios— the gaming division of the IT corporation. Previously, Bootie was responsible for the development of the Minecraft franchise, and now he has taken over the post of Phil Spencer, who was promoted last fall.

In his new position, Matt Bootie will oversee the development and publication of Microsoft game projects on PC, consoles and mobile platforms. Also among his responsibilities now are: tracking budget spending, allocating resources and meeting deadlines.

Bootie’s immediate boss was Phil Spencer, who now holds the position of executive vice president of the company and is on the board of directors of Microsoft.

Matt Bootie has been in the gaming industry since 1991. He started at Midway Games, where he was a programmer and game designer. By the way, he participated in the creation of the cult fighting game Mortal Kombat.

In 2008, Buti became CEO of Midway, and in 2010 joined Microsoft.
