At the release of Google Stadia, users and reviewers noted that the site needs to be improved. But over the past 40 days, she has not received a single update.
The inaction of the Stadia team was noticed yesterday by the user Gizoogle on Reddit. For 40 days, the site has not added any new features or games. There were not even any announcements, except for the promise to replenish the library in February, but it is also unclear what projects.
At the moment, there are no following announced features on Stadia:
- supports iOS devices or any Android smartphones except Pixel;
- family access to games;
- Stadia Base subscriptions (currently there is only Stadia Pro);
- supports 4K resolution when playing in the browser;
- Google Assistant support (although there is a corresponding button on the gamepad);
- synchronization of the gamepad with the pad on PC and phones via Wi-Fi.
Note: On January 16, the developers published an update plan for the first three months of 2020. It follows from it that a number of functions specified by Gizzogle will be implemented during the specified period.
Nevertheless, the media drew attention to all the noted problems even at the launch of Stadia on November 19. In addition, the platform supported 22 games on release. Google has promised to add 120 titles this year. But there are no announcements so far.
The user’s post with an appeal to the Stadia team was supported by 6 thousand people. Many have expressed concern that the project is dead. But almost immediately, confirmation came that the developers were aware of the problems. The community manager of Stadia under the nickname GraceFromGoogle was noted under the post. He stated that the complaint is justified and will not be deleted. At the same time, he was unable to share data about the work of the team and upcoming updates.
Recall that only the owners of the Founder’s Edition bundle for $129 are playing in Google Stadia so far. The platform is available in 14 countries (not in Russia). DFC Intelligence analysts called its launch one of the most disastrous in the history of game development. We published other reviews of the release version of Stadia here.
