The PC version of Metro Exodus has become a temporary exclusive for the Epic Games Store

Another victory of the Epic Games bizdev. Blockbuster Metro Exodus from the Ukrainian 4A Games in the version for personal computers will be distributed only in the “epic” store. There will be no previously planned release on Steam.

This was announced today, January 28, by the publisher of the post-apocalyptic shooter 

Deep Silver. They did not completely remove the game from Steam. The project had a long period of pre-sales. Everyone who managed to purchase Metro Exodus on Steam in advance will be able to play the project on the Valve platform. However, everyone else will have to buy the game from another digital store.

Steam is not happy about what happened. According to her representative, “such a decision is not fair to Steam users.” The platform also apologizes for informing so late (the release of the game is very soon, it is scheduled for February 15). She explains the latter by the fact that she herself was informed quite recently.

However, Metro Exodus will return to Steam. In February 2020, the game will cease to be a temporary exclusive of the Epic Games Store.

Metro Exodus is not the first title that has moved from Steam to the Epic Games Store. Earlier, at least a dozen teams reported on a similar decision. However, this is the second “move” of a really big game. Earlier this month, Ubisoft also announced that it will launch a PC version of The Division 2 exclusively on the site of the authors of Fortnite and its Uplay.
