Global market analytics company Nielsen has acquired SuperData Research. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

SuperData is one of the few companies collecting information on both physical and digital sales in the gaming market. This factor became a key argument for Nielsen in the decision to buy SuperData.

“We are aware of the growing importance of digital ecosystems in video games,” said Chris Morley, head of global gaming and esports research at Nielsen.

Nielsen expects that in the future SuperData will pay more attention to the analysis of the esports market. The company’s research results will help publishers, developers, copyright holders and brands who want to advertise or invest in this industry.

SuperData CEO Joost Van Drunen noted that his company and Nielsen share views on how to help customers understand the changing tastes of digital entertainment consumers.
