App Annie has published lists of the most popular and profitable mobile games in January 2017. The most successful projects of the month included My Talking Hank and Lineage II: Revolution.

Outfit7 returned to the top of the leading companies in total downloads on iOS after the release of My Talking Hank. Recall that in December last year, the Slovenian company was bought for € 1 billion.

Slovenians did not leave the top of the leading companies in terms of total downloads on Google Play at all. By the end of January, they took the first place on it, ahead of such giants as Vivendi and Electronic Arts. Also in the top was the Israeli TabTale, specializing in children’s games.

Sony turned out to be one of the most profitable mobile gaming companies on iOS by the end of December. The company took the seventh position – between MZ and BANDAI NAMCO. A high place was provided to her by the growth of the Fate / Grand Order role-playing game fees in Japan.

Sony occupies a similar seventh place in the top of gaming companies in terms of total revenue on Google Play. Note that of the ten most earning Android gaming companies, seven are based in Japan.

Super Mario Run remained the leader among games by downloads on iOS in January. The top ten also includes two new releases – the already mentioned My Talking Hank, as well as Paper.io from the French Voodoo.

My Talking Hank also became one of the most downloaded games on Google Play in January. Geometry Dash World from Swedish RobTop also performed well on Android. The eighth place in the top of the most downloaded games on the mobile Google platform allowed the game to enter the top of the most downloaded games by cumulative downloads on iOS and Android.

The leader in revenue on iOS in January of this year remained Monster Strike from mixi.

In the top of the highest–grossing games on Google Play, the most interesting thing is the dominance of Lineage II: Revolution. The Netmarble project within the framework of the platform earns more from one Korean market than Game of War and Clash Royale from around the world.
