On April 1, a battle pass called Season Challenges was introduced into the mobile Clash of Clans. As a result, the weekly revenue of the game soared by 145%. We understand what Supercell put in its “combat pass” and how it works.
Gold Pass — paid level of the battle passThe essence of Season Challenges
Clash of Clans has added a reward scale called “shooting gallery”. It is divided into stages and is gradually filled in when the player completes daily and monthly quests.
Most of these quests are associated with the most common activities: collecting resources, upgrading guns or destroying enemy units. For example, a user plays multiplayer and destroys towers with archers. The game counts 40 destroyed towers for the completed Season Challenges quest and adds Challenge Points to the player needed to advance through the shooting range.

For reaching the next stage, the player receives in-game rewards.
In Clash of Clans, these are magic items, potions, books, elixirs and dark elixirs, gold. These awards are updated on the first day of the calendar month (“season”). At the same time, the player’s progress inside the battle pass is reset to zero, and he begins to advance through the shooting range again.
The battle pass in the Supercell game is divided into two levels: a free “silver Pass” (Silver Pass) and a paid “gold Pass” (Gold Pass). In fact, these are two tiers of awards that are filled in parallel.

This pass is available by default to all players. It contains a total of 15 awards (mostly resources).
As part of the battle pass, a special storage – the Season Bank — also becomes available to players. Gold and resources are automatically credited to it — the same amount as the player earns in multiplayer raids. At the end of each season, the gold and resources accumulated in the Season Bank are transferred to the user.

There is also a Gold Pass.
This is an advanced Silver Pass, which doubles the rewards received by the player inside the battle pass. That is, 30 awards are already available to the user, as well as twice the storage capacity of the Season Bank.
Other advantages of the Golden Pass include a 20% boost in time spent on training, research and construction, as well as exclusive skins for heroes. The player will receive the latter as the 30th reward, only by completing the “golden shooting gallery” to the end.

Gold Pass is purchased once a month for $4.99. This business model differs from a regular subscription in that the Gold Pass is not automatically renewed. That is, the player can choose for himself whether he will hunt for “golden” awards this season.
Judging by the instant revenue growth of the game, Clash of Clans users accepted the innovation with a bang. First of all, they could be attracted by the long-awaited skins for heroes. In Clash of Clans, this customization element appeared for the first time.
The mechanics of the “battle pass” in Clash of Clans allows you to generate a lot of income. The weekly revenue of the game in the App Store and Google Play thanks to the battle pass reached $ 27 million. Also, Clash of Clans immediately entered the top five highest-grossing games on iOS in almost 50 countries.
