The revenue of mobile games in the App Store and Google Play for the first six months of 2018 amounted to $26.6 billion. This is 19.1% more than in the same period of 2017 last year, analysts at Sensor Tower calculated.
Player spending on Google Play is growing faster than in the App Store: 26% vs. 15.1%.
According to Sensor Tower, the largest revenue in the last six months was received by:
- Honor of Kings – MOBA of the Chinese giant Tencent;battler Monster Strike from the Japanese social network Mixi;
- Fate Grand Order role-playing game from Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony.
- In total, games currently account for 78% of mobile app revenue, analysts say.
As for game downloads, Google Play bypasses the App Store three times in terms of their number: 15 billion versus 4.5 billion . At the same time, the growth rate of the number of downloads is higher at the Apple store: 14.1% versus 10.3%.
Tops of this half-year by downloads:
- The Battle Royale of PUBG Mobile, published by Tencent; casual Helix Jump by the French studio Voodoo;
- Subway Surfers runner from Kiloo.
