Expert project Hi-Tech.Mail.Ru and IDC conducted a study of the Russian smartphone market in the first quarter of 2013.  According to its results, the share of Android-based devices in shipments for the year increased from 39.7% to 70.9%.

It is noteworthy that in the first quarter of 2013, the share of iOS decreased slightly (from 9% to 8.4%), and Windows Phone increased (from 5.1% to 8.3%) compared to the same period last year, so their shares were almost equal.

According to the chief analyst of Hi-Tech.Mail.According to Dmitry Ryabinin, the main consumer expectations from the new versions of Android are related to the optimization of energy consumption. As the autonomy improves, the share growth will continue.

As for the most common Android versions in Russia, Gingerbread (2.3) remains the undisputed leader here. It is installed on 45.9% of devices, but its share has decreased compared to last year (66.5%). The latest version of the OS, namely Jelly Bean (4.1), works today on 15% of devices.
