In the US, parents filed a second lawsuit against mobile developers in a week. Residents of California have accused Disney and Unity of illegally collecting personal data of children in mobile games.

Recall, on August 8, another group of citizens from New York and California filed a similar statement against the developers of Subway Surfers runner — Kyloo and SYBO Games.

Along with Disney and Unity, Upsight and Kochava appear in the new lawsuit.

Parents are sure that companies violate the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which obliges game developers to receive personal data from persons under the age of 13 only with the permission of their parents.

Personal information includes, among other things, IP addresses and information about the user’s location.

Only Disney’s lawsuit covers 42 mobile games, which, according to the applicants, do not comply with the requirements of COPPA.

Disney denies the charges and believes that the claim is based on an incorrect interpretation of the law, and is not based on actual violations.
