SuperData has released a review of the digital gaming market for January. Sales last month totaled $9.4 billion. At the same time, only the mobile segment has grown.

In the last month of 2019, digital game sales rose to a record $9.8 billion. This was reported by the analytical firm SuperData.

Over the last month of summer, users spent $8.9 billion worldwide on video games (this is only sales in numbers). 62% of this amount was accounted for by mobile.

In July, digital game sales reached $9.02 billion. This market grew by 5% year-on-year, despite the PC and console segments sagging for the third month in a row.

In April, players spent $8.86 billion on digital versions of console, desktop and mobile games. In annual terms, this amount increased by 7%.

The global turnover of digital purchases in the video game industry in May 2018 reached $9.1 billion. This is 25% more than the result of May last year, which amounted to $ 7.3 billion, according to the analytical company SuperData Research.

Sega Sammy Group summed up the results of fiscal year 2017 (ended March 31, 2018). According to the company’s report, Sega earned ¥57 billion ($522 million) from the sale of physical copies of its games, while digital sales of titles generated ¥38.5 billion ($352 million).

The independent Association of European game publishers Interactive Software Federation of Europe (ISFE) has started keeping official records of digital copies of video games sold along with retail. France became the pilot territory for the implementation of the project.

The creator of the Wasteland series has announced the opening of a digital online store Robot Cache with calculations in both standard currencies and its own cryptocurrency called Iron.

Digital distribution of video games will completely replace retail in the next 5 − 20 years. Karl Slatoff, the president of Take-Two Interactive publishing house, thinks so.
