Sony has shown less interest in the virtual reality market, according to sources from Android Central. As per their information, the company has drastically reduced funding for VR game development.

According to Bloomberg, Sony has decided not to produce the PS VR2 VR headset until it sells out the accumulated stocks of devices in warehouses.

The PS VR2 headset showed a weak sales start. Bloomberg, citing IDC data, reports that in the period from February 22 to the end of March, Sony sold 270 thousand devices.

The former technical director of Oculus* tweeted a thread about PS VR2, which is due to be released this month. John Carmack said that despite the excellent technical characteristics, Sony‘s VR headset is unlikely to be very successful.

Yesterday, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that Sony is going to produce only one million copies of PS VR 2 in the first quarter of 2023 instead of the previously planned two million. However, Sony later issued a denial.
