According to Bloomberg, Sony has decided not to produce the PS VR2 VR headset until it sells out the accumulated stocks of devices in warehouses.
It is reported that Sony has produced more than 2 million PS VR2S to date. It is unknown how many of them have been implemented. In May 2023, Sony announced that its VR headset had been bought almost 600,000 times in its debut six weeks.
According to IDC analysts, PS VR2 shipments to stores have been getting smaller every quarter since the release of the VR headset in February 2023. At the end of last year, they were already almost half as much as at the beginning. If in the first quarter of 2023 Sony shipped 595.5 thousand PS VR2 to stores, then in the fourth quarter of 2023 - 325.2 thousand PS VR2.

According to Macquarie analyst Yijia Zhai, the main reasons for weak sales were the lack of content and the high price of the VR headset - Sony is asking $549.9 for it. In addition, PS VR2 is currently working only with the PlayStation 5 console. However, Sony intends to increase the number of platforms and is going to add PC support within a year.
