The PS VR2 headset showed a weak sales start. Bloomberg, citing IDC data, reports that in the period from February 22 to the end of March, Sony sold 270 thousand devices.
Earlier, Sony claimed that it “sees the enthusiasm of PlayStation fans” in relation to the PS VR2. According to Bloomberg, the company expected to produce 2 million VR headsets by March 31, and sell more than 5 million devices over the entire existence of PS VR2.
IDC analysts believe that in the current economic conditions, most people are not interested in buying VR headsets.
“Sony will have to lower the price of the PS VR2 to avoid a complete disaster of its new product,” said Francisco Jeronimo, vice president of data and analytics at IDC. Recall that now PS VR2 is on sale for $549.9.
