Game pirates usually bring losses to developers, but there are exceptions. The Finnish studio Immobile Games profitably sold SkidStorm mobile racing to the Chinese publisher Cheetah Mobile after the pirated version of the game unexpectedly became a hit in China.

Chinese games are becoming more and more popular outside of China. The number of projects from the PRC that got into the Top 1000 popular games in the world (excluding China itself) doubled in 2016. The most loyal markets to Chinese products are Indonesia, Brazil, India and Russia.

The continuation of one of the main minimalistic hits of last spring – the musical game Piano Tiles – in September became the leader of the American Google Play in downloads among free applications.

The Chinese company Cheetah Mobile announced the launch of a mobile advertising platform for games and applications.
