Because of the coronavirus quarantine, people are paying more and more attention to games. According to Nielsen, a 45% increase in the indicator “time spent in games” was recorded in the United States. In addition, users began to spend more money on games.

From March 23 to March 29, Nielsen Games surveyed 3,000 respondents in four countries. She conducts surveys on a monthly basis, so analysts compared the result with the data obtained before the pandemic.

So, players in all these countries began to spend more time in games:

  • in the USA, time has increased by 45%;
  • in France — an increase of 38%;
  • in the UK — an increase of 29%;
  • in Germany, there is an increase of 20%.

Some respondents began to play online games with friends more often:

  • there are 29 such players in the USA%;
  • in the UK, 17% are more likely to play online than offline;
  • in France, they began to play online more often 12%;
  • There is no data for Germany.

User spending on games has also increased:

  • in the USA, 39% of players began to spend more money;
  • in the UK, France and Germany, there are at least 23% of such players.

42% of Americans surveyed also noted that since the beginning of the quarantine, they began to buy games in digital stores, and not from physical retailers.

In addition, 50% of Americans in quarantine began to watch game streams more often. In France, there are 40% of such viewers.
