One of the problems of Stadia is a small library. Google understands this. Therefore, they announced that they were working on a program that would allow independent teams to independently publish games on this cloud platform.

The initiative is called Stadia Makers. At the moment, it is being prepared together with Unity.

According to Google, a huge number of studios are turning to it, and previously the company simply could not afford to work with such a large number of gaming teams. Now, after the preparation of the new tools, the situation should change significantly.

As part of the program, Unity experts will help developers in technical terms, with certificates, with the preparation of launches and running-in of the game. Also, Stadia Makers members will receive up to five free Stadia devkits per team. Plus, Google declares its readiness to compensate for some financial costs.

As part of the pilot program that has started, Google is looking for “experienced indie developers” who are creating their game on Unity version 2019.3 and older. You can leave a request at this link.

We, in turn, recall that the developers who had previously communicated with Google about launching on Stadia were dissatisfied. They were also not satisfied with the fact that the company is not ready to pay for exclusivity, and its installation base is still small.
