Within the framework of White Nights, the VKontakte social network officially announced the Direct Games HTML5 gaming platform and talked about its work.
The platform will appear in the game catalog of the VK mobile application. The list of HTML5 games will be located in the place of the current feature “Your Games”. The list of new native games that support VK login will remain in the same place.
Whether the platform itself will receive promotion within the framework of a mobile application is unclear now, but they promise that developers will have traffic. Its appearance will be due to a small number of projects and their active feature in the gaming section from VKontakte.
It will be possible to publish exclusively free-play games on Direct Games. Accordingly, it will be possible to make micropayments in them. Users will be able to pay for IAP with the currency of the network – votes.
It is unknown how much VKontakte will take from the IAP. From social games on the desktop, the social network takes 45% from each earned vote. If this model persists, then the developer will receive 2.6 rubles from each vote (7 rubles minus 30% of the store and minus 45% of VK).
Now VKontakte invites all HTML5 game developers to cooperate. Preferences are given to small and fast games that can support all the social mechanics of the platform (invitations, requests, sharing, leaderboards and sharing via messages).
The release of VKontakte is promised on Android “soon”. Then they promise its appearance on iOS.
