Japanese developer Rakuten Games has launched the social gaming platform R Games, using HTML5 features.
R Games offers a line of free games, including original titles from companies like Don Don Dragon, as well as a number of games from major Japanese publishers. There are currently 15 games available.
The platform offers a number of social features, such as the ability to send game “lives” to other R Games users, compete with them in a set of game points and share excerpts of gameplay videos.
Rakuten Games is a joint venture between Rakuten and the American Blackstorm Labs. The versatility of HTML5 allows you to play games created on it both on a smartphone and in a PC browser. Facebook launched a similar Instant Games platform last year.
