Snapchat messenger has introduced a new Snappables game format. These are small AR games that use video from the front camera.
Snappables resemble “lenses” — Snapchat branded video filters. But unlike “lenses”, Snappables do not just add virtual objects to the video, but also have gaming functionality.
Some Snappables are designed for single player play, others allow you to compete with friends.
Snapchat promises to release new games every week.
A month ago, the company bought the PlayCanvas game engine, which runs in the cloud.
At the same time, there were suggestions that Snapchat uses the capabilities of PlayCanvas to integrate mini-games into the messenger.
However, it is not yet clear whether the capabilities of PlayCanvas were used when creating Snappables.
