The share of “apple” smartphones compared to 2014 increased by 1.8% in the five main markets of Europe – in England, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Analysts from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech believe that the growth of Apple’s user base is due to former users of Android devices.
In total, Apple now owns 20.3% of the total share of smartphones on the European market.
According to a study by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, in the first quarter of 2015, 32.4% of new users of Apple devices switched to them from Android smartphones.
“In the first quarter of 2015, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus continued to win users across Europe, including those who used to use an Android smartphone,” says Carolina Milanesi, head of research at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.
The share of Android smartphones in the European market decreased by 3.1%. Nevertheless, Android still owns the majority of the market – 68.4%.
Note that in China, the share of iOS smartphones increased from 17.9% last year to 26.1% at the beginning of this year. Kantar Worldpanel ComTech claims that China has overtaken the United States in terms of the number of iPhones sold.
