About 83% of all revenue from mobile games in 2014, developers received through the App Store and Google Play. This is what Newzoo reports in its research.
The rest is divided between Amazon, Japanese e-shops for feature phones and direct downloads from websites.
Google is catching up with Apple. The revenue of the “Apple” company from mobile games in 2014 amounted to $ 3.2 billion, and its closest competitor – $ 2.6 billion. For comparison, in 2013 Google earned $ 1.4 billion on games, and Apple – $2.4, that is, the gap between them was $ 1 billion.
However, Newzoo analysts believe that this state of affairs will not last long. Apple became the largest seller of technology in China in 2014. The company’s profit amounted to $14.1 billion. This means that the local mobile base has grown significantly, and in 2015 this will have a positive impact on Apple’s revenue. That is, Google in this race may be pushed back again.
