In early November, owners of Android devices began to notice that Google Play no longer shows notifications about successful app updates. A Google representative confirmed: this is not a bug, but a feature.
According to Android Police, they started talking about the disappearance of notifications after the Google Play update to version 17.4. Users see on smartphones how the software is updated. But the notification that the process is completed does not appear. That is, device owners often miss the moment of the update altogether.
Complaints have also been received from users who update Android software manually. Google Play has stopped informing them about available updates. Some of them on the Google tech support site were recommended to look for the “Allow notifications” checkboxes in the system settings and Google Play. But for many, all the necessary settings were set and so. Notifications did not appear.
Owners of Android devices considered the disappearance of update messages to be a bug. And at some point it seemed that the problem was solved: in November, a number of users announced that they were receiving notifications about updates again. However, the situation was repeated in mid-December. It was not affected by the release of the next versions of Google Play (after 17.4).
In the end, a Google representative gave explanations. According to him, this is not a mistake at all, but a new objective function of the store.
Note: the lack of notifications affected both Google system applications and third-party ones. At the same time, Google Play still shows messages about the successful installation of any new software.
