Shanghai police arrested five people who forged the official merchandise of Genshin Impact. This is the second arrest directly related to the violation of the rights of the company miHoYo, in the last two weeks.

During the detention, the police confiscated more than 30 thousand units of products worth ¥100 million ($ 13.9 million).

It is noteworthy that in 2021, miHoYo allowed Genshin Impact fans to create and sell merchandise based on the game, but not without restrictions. In particular, the authors of fan merchandise are prohibited from passing off their products as official.

Earlier in China, the creators of cheats for Genshin Impact were taken into custody. Their arrest, as well as the arrest of the merchandising manufacturers, took place as part of the “operation to protect the rights” of miHoYo. Also, the Chinese police detained the author of hentai for the game because of illegal profit-making, but it is unknown whether miHoYo made claims to him for copyright infringement.
