As the New Year approaches, the service SteamDB shared its observations about Steam. It estimated that in the partial year of 2025, a record number of games were released on the Valve platform — 19,200. However, almost half of them barely piqued anyone's interest.

SteamDB discovered that 2,200 new releases in 2025 have not received a single review. Another 7,100 games can at best “boast” nine reviews.

In contrast, the games that were truly discussed and managed to receive more than 500 reviews on Steam this year totaled 1,200—only 6.2%.

The review situation was similar in 2024. As data from SteamDB shows, last year 43.56% of games garnered fewer than 10 reviews, while only 7.2% surpassed the 500 reviews threshold.

In November, analysts at Alinea Analytics reported that 2025 had already become the best year in the history of Steam not only in terms of the number of new releases but also the total gross revenue from games. According to their calculations, in the first 11 months of 2025, all titles available on Steam collectively earned $16.2 billion. For comparison, in the entire year of 2024, games on Steam generated just over $15 billion in revenue.
