Google has released the final version of the ARCore devkit, designed for the development of augmented reality applications.

According to Google, the surface detection algorithm has been improved in ARCore version 1.0. Along with ARCore, the Google Lens application for recognizing objects using the camera of a mobile device received an update.

In addition, Google has added ARCore support to the Android Studio Beta development environment emulator. With its help, AR applications can be pre-tested on the desktop.

Ready-made programs and games are offered to be published on Google Play.

ARCore 1.0 supports 13 smartphone models, including the Google Pixel line of devices, as well as flagship devices from Samsung, LG and several other manufacturers.

Google has promised to significantly expand the list of compatible devices during this year. The company focused on the promotion of ARCore in the Chinese market, where AR applications will be sold in the stores of partner companies.

Speaking about AR games, Google did not name specific titles, but mentioned that ARCore gaming capabilities can be tested in games from NetEase, Wargaming and Game Insight.

The ARCore platform was first introduced at the end of August 2017. It replaced the Tango mobile computer vision system, which Google has been developing since 2014.
