Steam will receive a smaller share from the sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game has overcome the necessary revenue threshold. According to the rules of the store, its commission has decreased to 20%.

In December 2018, Valve updated the rules for revenue distribution in the store. The standard Steam share from each project is 30%. It is reduced to 25% if the project earns more than $ 10 million, and to 20% if the revenue of the game exceeds $ 50 million.

But there is a nuance. Only income received after October 1, 2018 is counted. It consists of sales of various publications, DLC, microtransactions and revenue on the Steam Trading Platform.

As CD Projekt reported on Twitter, “The Witcher 3” managed to overcome the threshold of $ 50 million. That’s how much he has earned since October 1, 2018. Thanks to this, the publisher can enjoy the benefit and give Steam only 20%.

Recently, this is not the first positive news related to CD Projekt and The Witcher. Yesterday, the company was named the third largest on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The value of its shares is as high as ever. Wild Hunt sales increased by 554%, and it rose in the UK charts. He also grew up online in the games of the entire series.

Note that the franchise could be well influenced by the release of The Witcher series on Netflix. You can read more about this here.
