According to the forecast of the analytical company Sensor Tower, from 2016 to 2020, the average user’s spending in the United States on iPhone apps and purchases in them will grow by 86% to $88 per year.

In 2016, the average annual spending on iPhone apps in the United States was $47.

Games will remain the main source of mobile spending. They will generate about 70% of mobile app revenue from a single device.

Following the games, the share of spending on entertainment services with series like Netflix and HBO NOW will grow. According to Sensor Tower calculations, by 2019 Americans will spend at least $8 a year on them. Last year, the average spending on mobile series was $2.8.

The forecast is based on the approximate revenue of the App Store in the USA from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2019 and Sensor Tower statistics on active iPhones in the USA for this period of time.
