Microsoft’s gaming division generated $1.9 billion in revenue from sales of games on Xbox and Windows 10 in the third quarter of the fiscal year.

According to the company, compared to the same period last year, Microsoft’s gaming revenues increased by 4%.

The main drivers of growth were digital sales and receipts from Xbox Live.

The audience of the service in the last quarter was 52 million active players.

“Revenues from software and services for Xbox increased by 7%, and the monthly audience of Xbox Live increased by 13% compared to the same period last year. This is due to the spread of digital distribution and a strong line of games,” Microsoft noted.

Microsoft’s biggest release in the third fiscal quarter was the real-time strategy game Halo Wars 2.

The financial performance was also affected by the launches of such blockbusters as Mass Effect: Andromeda, For Honor, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands, distributed through Microsoft’s digital platforms.
