Chinese developer Cheetah Mobile called 2017 the “Snapchat era”: the mobile messenger enters the top mobile platforms in Europe.
According to Cheetah Mobile, Snapchat is in the top three social apps in the UK, Germany and France, and in the latter Snapchat surpassed Instagram in popularity.
According to marketers, in the future this could make Snapchat one of the main mobile platforms for promoting goods and services.
The messenger offers advertisers access to a youth audience (51% of Snapchat users are under 24 years old, according to the British Nielsen) and innovative marketing tools, such as video chat filters that can be branded.
According to a study by the German company Hochschule Duesseldorf, such marketing annoys users much less than traditional ads in the messenger.
“Snapchat gives brands the opportunity to showcase innovative advertising on mobile phones, creating interesting and interactive formats for a young audience. Advertisers know that their ads will only be shown to interested users, so they don’t have to worry about their ads being displayed in inappropriate places,” Cheetah Mobile reported.
Not so long ago, Snapchat introduced new tools for promotion on its platform, for example, it allowed advertisers to track the routes of users who saw their ads in the app.
