Commenting on a recent MobileDevHQ report, a representative of Fiksu told how getting into the Top 5 affects organic growth.

Not so long ago, a very controversial study of the MobileDevHQ startup, now owned by Tune, was published. According to the results of the study, the main source of traffic is search results. Recall, then this “discovery” caused a lot of questions. And the other day, Samantha Lordi, an employee of Fiksu, commented on it.

According to her, during the survey, respondents may well have misunderstood what was required of them. Samantha appealed to Ofcom’s research, which showed the opposite results (search is one of the least popular ways to find applications, charts are one of the most popular). In other words, the majority of respondents could have confused something in the questionnaire. As a result, distorted results were obtained.

We are not saying that search does not matter, but we know for sure that the top charts play a much more significant role than the study says,” said Samantha Lordi.

FiksuAccording to her, getting into the gaming Top 5 (it is unclear whether paid, free or cash) increases the number of organic downloads by 89%.

For other categories, the parameter can vary greatly. For example, getting into the Top 5 lifestyle will increase organic only by 35.
