Despite the fact that Samsung remains the top vendor of mobile phones and smartphones in the US market, Apple is rapidly catching up with the Korean company in terms of the number of users, comScore reports.
According to her data, over the past August, Samsung’s share has not changed since May 2012, but Apple has shown a noticeable increase. Its share increased by 2.1% – this is the largest growth that has generally occurred in the mobile market since April. This allowed Apple to get close in terms of indicators to LG, which occupies the second position, which lost almost 1% of the American market. So it is quite possible that next month Apple will take the second position.
HTC in the period from May to August showed a slight increase of 0.2%. In general, sales of the Taiwanese company in the United States continue to remain low. According to the official data of the company itself, for the second quarter of this year its net profit fell by 57% compared to the same results of 2011.
Google-owned Motorola Mobility also has problems: its indicators have fallen by 0.8% in three months. It is unclear whether the head office is going to solve this situation in any way.
As for the platform market, only Apple and Google had an increase in subscribers. Moreover, as in the case of devices, more active growth was observed in Cupertinos. If the share of Android in the US mobile platform market has grown by only 1.7%, then Yablochniki has increased its presence by an impressive 2.4% in three months. So now iOS has 34.3% of the market. However, it’s too early to be afraid of Google: its share currently reaches a serious 52.6% and, as you can see, it does not intend to decrease.
All other platforms from May to August only lost their positions. The Canadian RIM suffered the most: it lost 3.1% of the market. However, this does not prevent it from being ahead of Microsoft, which has lost users over the summer: its indicators have fallen by 0.4%. It’s funny, Symbian lost the same 0.4% of the American market over the same period.
