Over the past year, the number of users of Google’s mobile platform purchasing paid programs has doubled.

These conclusions were reached by the analysts of TouchType (usually acting under the brand of their product SwiftKey), who interviewed more than 17 thousand users together with Pocket-Linta and Mobile Nations.

In 2011, 39% of iPhone users had 20% or more paid applications, and only 3% did not have any such program. A year ago, a completely different situation developed on Android: 12% of the platform’s users did not have a single paid application and only 10% had more than 20 of them.

This year, the number of fans of paid applications among Android users has almost doubled, but among iPhone users their number has decreased. 19% of Android users and 26% of iPhone users in a 2012 study said that more than 20 applications were installed on their gadgets. As for the number of those who do not have a single application on their device, their number on both platforms is almost identical at the moment: 6% for iPhone users and 7% for those who own Android.
