Google’s creation has about 50 million mobile subscribers, providing the platform with 50.1% of the smartphone market in the United States.

Specialists of the analytical company comScore insist on this. They also claim that the platform’s share in the American market has increased by 3.2% over the past three months (from November 2011 to February 2012). For comparison, Apple’s share increased by 1.5% over the same period. As for RIM and Microsoft, their market shares fell by 3.2% and 1.3%, respectively, during the same time. Curiously, Symbian’s share has retained its 1.5%.

Yes, judging by comScore data, Samsung and LG provide a large share of Android sales. Their presence in the American mobile phone market as a whole (the smartphone market + the market of simple handsets) is dominant. The first company controls more than a quarter of the mobile market (25.6%), the second slightly less (19.4%). Apple’s share in the mobile device market in the USA is one and a half times less – 13.5%, but it is steadily growing (+1.3%), and not falling like LG’s (-1.1%).

As for specific figures, at the moment 234 million people use mobile phones in the United States. Of these, almost half – 104 million – are accounted for by happy smartphone owners. This, by the way, is 17% more than in February last year.
