A series of high-profile announcements continues. This time the Wizard of the Coast company was pleased. At the Boston PAX East 2013, she announced the transfer of Dungeons & Dragons board games to iOS.
Two development teams are already working on porting, one of which is Playdek, the name of the second is still unknown.
Playdek has repeatedly brought desktop projects to the mobile market. Her portfolio includes games such as Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer and Summoner Wars. It is difficult to call them very successful, but these are honest and complex card gaming applications, the rules of which need to be thoroughly understood.
Apparently, the Dungeons & Dragons projects will be no less hardcore. True, Wizard of the Coast claims that the rules in the digital versions will be slightly different, adapted to mobile platforms, but board games are rarely easy to learn (compared to casual games, of course).
The first board game to be released on iOS under the Dungeons & Dragons brand will be Castle Ravenloft Board Game.
