Zynga has announced the release of its own endless runner Running With Friends for iOS. This is the company’s seventh product released under the With Friends brand. About the chips of the project and its first results on the market, read our material.

There are not many runners. Today, this phrase is something like a postulate for many developers. And indeed, the retention in such projects is high. The risks are minimal. All the pitfalls of the genre have long been found. The only problem is high competition and extremely low ARPU. In order for the game to start making money, many, many people must download it. At the same time, the traffic must be of high quality.

For Zynga, attracting traffic has never been a problem. Therefore, it is not the release of the next clone from Zynga that is surprising (Pinkus has not been surprised by this for a long time), but the significant time difference between the appearance on the market of Temple Run (or rather Subway Surfers, to which the clone is closer) and the release of Running With Friends.

On the other hand, given the current gradual decline in interest in the creations of Kiloo and Imangi, the relative lull in terms of the appearance of third-party developments, and the desire of Zynga itself to strengthen the brand With Friends – the publication of a new AAA runner is a good step. 

According to the mechanics of Running With Friends, it practically does not differ from the progenitors. But it was not without special chips. The main one is the extended social functionality. The project, for example, provides for the possibility of asynchronous play with friends. The levels for each round are generated anew, but players “fighting” with friends “run” on the same randomly created level. Accordingly, the winner is the one who scores more points. 

The project was developed by the team responsible for Scramble With Friends. She was assisted by the Eat Sleep Play studio. There is no information about the Android version of the game yet.

As of Friday, May 10, the iPhone version of the game is in the top 10 games by downloads in 15 countries, including the USA, and in the top 100 by revenue in three countries (Australia, Spain, Ecuador).

The game is also in the top 5 iPad apps in 14 countries, including the USA. However, with the retention of users, it is not so good yet, as can be seen from the article just below.
